Spring is the Perfect Time to Install or Upgrade Your Deer Fence
With spring right around the corner, it is the perfect time to put in a new deer fence or upgrade an existing fence. Installing a new fence can be accomplished with some planning and research and there is no better weather than now to get out there and check out your property for a spot for a new fence. You can also replace/repair your existing fence. The above photo shows a replacement fence for a recent customer. They previously had a polypropylene deer fence installed. We were able to reuse some of the existing posts by cutting them down and installing them using our Professional System and revere sleeve. We upgraded the customer to a 14 gauge poly coated welded wire with 3-horizontal cable supports. Read more about our Professional System and our reverse sleeve system.
Springtime allows easier access to get in and install your fencing. Old fencing can be cleared away by removing vines, cutting out sections and rolling it up for removal.
If replacing an existing deer fence some, if not all of the original posts can be used again. If there significant rust or water damage at the bottom of the old posts from standard ground sleeves, these posts should be replaced. New cable can be added once you have all the posts in place. Then simply run out your replacement metal or poly deer fencing to follow the new cable and post. Installation instructions and videos can be found in our instruction section. You can also download our printable instruction guide.
The above two pictures show a replacement from an older poly fence to a new 14 gauge metal 7' fence with a grid of 2" x 3" . This project covered about 210' of fence line and took one full day.
