Step 7: How to Install a Middle Cable Support for Deer Fence
Instructions on how to install a middle cable support for the Benner Deer Fence Co. installation system.
Begin and terminate all cable at a braced or cemented post whenever possible.
Set up the cable spool at the starting post in the same manner as the top/bottom cable procedure.
For a poly top with metal bottom fence, check all of the 1 5/8” collars/eye bolts, making sure they are apprioxametly 2-3 inches above the top of the metal fence.
For an all poly or all metal fence, check all of the 1 5/8” collars/eye bolts, making sure they are located at the same height from ground level.
Install the middle cable by spinning off the nylon cable down the fence line. Slide the cable through each eye bolt.
The cable can be run for approximately 200’ before being terminated. Terminate at a braced post. When the stopping post has been reached, leave approximately 2’ of extra cable for fastening. Cut the cable with a deer fence multi tool. Use a medium gripple 11 gauge cable and a large gripple for 8 gauge cable. Fasten the cable by sliding the cable into the fastener, following the arrows shown on the back of the gripple.
Slide fastener up the cable, leaving a few inches to tighten once the other end of the cable is slid back into the fastener. Do not tighten all the way.
Continue running stretches of approximately 200’ until all of the middle cable is installed.
At this point there should be a little flex in the middle cable at the far ending post where the cable has been terminated.
